Hi Janet

Welcome to the forum, sorry that you have RA, but there's wonderful folks here who are all going through the same thing and can always help with advice and support.

Please do give the meds a bit of time, they can make a huge difference one they get to work. I hope whatever you're currently on brings you relief

Take Care Janet, and hope to hear more from you soon.

Best wishes

Jo.

Hi Janet,

Welcome to the forum!
You'll get lots of friendly advice and support on here.
It can be a case of trial and error at first to get the right drug mix as we all react differently to them and no-one knows which drugs will work until they try them. Hope you find the right ones for you soon.
I'm 60 and have had RA for 9 years, now on mtx and Humira.
Looking forward to getting to know you.

Doreen xx

Hello Janet

Welcome to our happy family.

I'm 53- married to Tony- no kids but several nieces and nephews inclding Joe who's 2 wks old. We've got 2 rabbits and a budgie and I love animals and wild life. I
I'm still working as a teacher 4 days a week but it's tough at times.

I was diagnosed over 2 yrs ago but had symptoms for about a year before that. I've been fortunate that my RA is relatively well controlled and I've had some good spells.

I started out on Sulfasalazine which was fine for nearly 2 yrs but became less effective so methotrexate was added. It's taken a while to get going but the last few days I've seen a definite improvement.

Ive had some ups and downs emotionally too, coming to terms with the fact I have this disease, and I get incredibly frustrated when I can't do all the things I want!
I find the hardest thing to deal with is the fatigue, although it has lessened as the meds have kicked in. Pacing myself is not easy- when I feel ok I overdo it and pay for it later although over time I find the after effects are less severe.

The forum is a lifeline- lots of love and support and good laughs too. I've been through some difficult personal times recently and the support on here has helped me through it.

Please keep in touch- looking ofrward to getting to know you better

Maria x

Hello Janet

Good you have joined us all, we all understand what each other is going through when things can get a little difficult. You will never feel alone which is so important. I am 54 and was dx last September and still trying to get the drugs to do the job, I know from being on here it does take time but we get there in the end !

Take care Julia x

Hello Janet, and welcome to the forum - I bless the day I found it, because there is a wealth of info, advice, sympathy and empathy on here.

As far as the drugs go, it is very much a case of trial and error, and a lot of patience while you are going through this process. I found the first 18 months were horrible, but things looked up once they found the right drug combo.

Do keep posting,

Kathleen x

Hi Janet,

I am Lorna, I´m married to my husband Ken for 28 years, and have 3 lovely daughters. Sorry to hear you have RA, I have had it for almost 3 years, I was very ill in the beginning but with the help of Depomedrone Steroid Injections and the triple therapy drugs I keep really well now as long as I do not overdo it. I hope they find a good combination of drugs to help you. Give things time and look forward and be positive it does help. Hope you feel better soon take care Lorna x Smile
